Our mission

Sustainable Swaledale is a community group aiming to make Swaledale and Arkengarthdale the most environmentally sustainable of the Yorkshire Dales.

What do we do?

We’re involved in various initiatives in the Swaledale and Arkengarthdale area. At the moment we are:

  • Recycling: We’re providing information about how and where to recycle, and working locally to ensure that as much waste gets recycled as possible. Read more…
  • Local produce: We’re setting up small vegetable patches on spare patches of land for locals to grow and harvest their own produce. Read more…
  • Sustainable living: We’re providing advice and tips for living as sustainably as possible. Read more…
  • Lobbying: We’re lobbying our local and regional authorities to take climate and sustainability issues seriously. Read more…

Why do we do it?

We love our corner of the Yorkshire Dales and want to make it as sustainable as possible, to benefit the local people as well as the wider UK and global communities.
